Why GOAT MILK soap?

Welcome to our relaunch of Goatherd’s Wife, a blog of Angelwood Soap Company!

I get this question at sales events all the time: Why goat milk soap? It’s a great question, really. Many of us typically run to the store and buy a bar of “soap” off the shelf and don’t really know or think about how soap is made. So, we wonder why goat milk soap?

Real soap is made by mixing water with oils. But, as we know, oils and water don’t mix. So, we create a chemical reaction using lye (for example, sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide) to force the mixture of oils and water.

When making goat milk soap, we substitute part or all of the water with goat milk, that creamy white, delicious beverage that’s chock full of vitamins and nutrients. Incorporating goat milk into soap also adds another layer of fats to the finished product.
